Robert J. Triantafillos - Obituary

Beloved Husband, Machinist- Corvette and Harley Davidson Enthusiast

Robert John Triantafillos, age 74, beloved husband of Nancy Ballantyne Triantafillos of Oxford, died peacefully on September 18, 2023 with his loving family by his side. Born in Derby on August 8, 1949, he was the son of the late Manolis and Mildred Mott Triantafillos. Mr. Triantafillos was raised in Seymour and lived in Oxford for 31 years. He was a proud U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked as a machinist for the Farrell Co., Bob Bennett Engineering Co. and the Don Costello Engineering Co. for many years, until the time of his retirement in 2004.

Mr. Triantafillos had many hobbies including skiing, boating and fly fishing. Together with his wife Nancy, he made two adventurous cross-country excursions, canoeing & kayaking across the United States. Mechanically gifted, Bob was well known in the “Vette World” as a passionate Corvette builder and enthusiast. In addition to Corvettes, he focused his talents on building and restoring classic Harley Davison Motorcycles.

In addition to his wife of 34 years, he is survived by a daughter, Marci (Lewis) Martindale of Westbrook; granddaughters, Caila and Alisabeth Martindale; sisters, Elaine Payne of Florida and Cathy (Charlie) Antonelli of Bethany; as well as several nieces and nephews. Mr. Triantafillos was predeceased by sister, Barbara Nafpliotis; and brother, Steven T. Triantafillos.

Family and friends may call at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia on Saturday, September 30, 2023, from 4:00 – 6:30 PM. Funeral services will be held at 6:30 PM. Interment with Military Honors will take place on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 10:00 AM in the CT State Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown, CT.
