UPDATE: Two Oxford Teens Injured in Serious Route 8 Accident
State Police said the incident happened on Tuesday at around 4 p.m.

Update, 1:45 p.m. State Police say in a press release that a vehicle driven by a16-year-old Oxford teen was traveling on Route 8 southbound near Exit 17 in Derby by the off-ramp Tuesday around 4 p.m.
The driver failed to maintain the lane and struck the guard rail in the right shoulder, went over the guardrail and struck a tree, according to the report
Two people including the boy’s sister, 13, were injured in the accident and taken to Bridgeport Hospital.

The vehicle incurred significant damage. Both teens were wearing their seat belts, and the driver had a license.
Original post: Two Oxford teens, reportedly brother, 16, and sister, 13, were seriously injured after the SUV they were driving in crashed into a tree on Route 8 near Exit 17 in Derby, on Tuesday, according to the Valley Independent Sentinel.

The brother was listed in fair condition, but the sister’s condition remains unknown, the Sentinel reported. The brother had a valid Connecticut state license, and both minors were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
Route 8 remained closed going South while police investigated the crash, according to the Sentinel. This was the second car accident reported on Tuesday in Derby near Exit 17.
