A 47-year-old man died after his car hit another car, then veered off the highway and struck a metal guard rail next to the shoulder.

ROCKY HILL, CT — One man died and another was uninjured in a two-car crash on I-91 North in Rocky Hill Thursday afternoon.

At around 2:30 p.m., Terence McNichol, 47, of Bridgeport was driving in the right lane of I-91 North, south of the on-ramp from Route 9.

McNichol lost control of his 2013 Nissan Altima — "for an unknown reason," state police said — and it struck the right side of a 2008 Ford F-350 driving adjacent to him in the center lane.
