Book On Wayne Chapman's Life Covers Time Spent In Rocky Hill
A new book about the convicted rapist's life and crimes has details on his stay at a Rocky Hill nursing home — and the public's reaction.

ROCKY HILL, CT — The life of convicted child molester Wayne Chapman — whose final years were spent in a nursing home nearly across the street from a Rocky Hill elementary school — is being explored in a new book.
"Monster: The Life and Crimes of Wayne Chapman and the Machine he Fed" is an investigation into a 1970s child pornography ring that involved Chapman, who was convicted of sexually assaulting two boys in 1977 and has admitted to molesting up to 100 boys in multiple states.
Chapman died last October in 60 West, a nursing home in Rocky Hill located near Moser School, which is attended by fourth- and fifth-graders.

"Wayne Chapman was dumped on the residents of Rocky Hill 500 feet from a school to live out the last days of his life," author David McGrath told Patch.

As he started doing interviews for the book, McGrath said, Rocky Hill community members — including fellow residents of 60 West — began reaching out to him, telling him how upset they were that the nursing home had taken Chapman in.
Though McGrath was never quite able to figure out how Chapman ended up in Rocky Hill, he said town residents had been petitioning the city council and going to the police chief to express their frustration that he was living in their community.
Chapman's time in Rocky Hill is among several things explored in the book, which McGrath said he wrote to shine a light on a story that's likely unknown to a lot of people.
"Monster: The Life and Crimes of Wayne Chapman and the Machine he Fed" can be purchased on Amazon.
