Rocky Hill Fire Department Battles Structure Fire Sunday (patch.com) — Rocky Hill firefighters knocked down a Sunday morning commercial structure fire on Laurel Road within about 20 minutes, after overcoming a frozen hydrant and calling in mutual aid to keep town coverage. Parts of Dividend Road were temporarily closed by fire police and Rocky Hill police during the response, but no occupants were inside the building and the blaze was brought under control quickly.

CT Department of Veteran Affairs did not properly supervise overtime, audit says (ctpost.com) — Rocky Hill’s state-run Veterans Home is at the center of a new audit that faults Connecticut’s Department of Veterans Affairs for weak oversight of overtime, purchasing, and asset management. The agency, which runs the nursing and residential facility in town, agrees with the findings and says it is tightening controls, digitizing purchasing, and improving inventory safeguards.

CT offers free nature hikes to ring in 2026 (ctpublic.org) — Rocky Hill residents can kick off 2026 with a free First Day Hike at Dinosaur State Park, one of 15 guided hikes planned across Connecticut on New Year’s Day.
