Rocky Hill Easily Wins Regional Walking Contest
Also participating in the regional health district's walking challenge were teams representing Berlin, Newington, and Wethersfield.
ROCKY HILL, CT — A regional health department serving Berlin, Newington, Rocky Hill, and Wethersfield has announced the winners of its recent municipal walking contest.
The event took place from May 1-31, with folks asked to "Walk This May," part of a four-town competition to see which town has walked the most during the month.
The program is being organized by the Central Connecticut Health District, which is based in Rocky Hill, but also serves Wethersfield, Newington, and Berlin.

The contest had a simple goal in mind: get people moving and walking, which is the simplest way to improve health.
According to the health district, "Team Rocky Hill" won the event's so-called "triple crown" and was the top overall team in the competition.

Rocky Hill had the most steps in the month (33.85 million steps), the highest number of participants (132), and two members of the "Million Step Club," walkers who walked a million steps that month.
Rounding out the field was: Wethersfield, 27.12 million steps; Berlin, with 15 million steps; and Newington with 11.35 million steps.
Those affiliated with the Central Connecticut Health District also participated and logged in 1.23 million steps.
