Beloved Fire Chaplain Mourned In Southington
The veteran firefighter was a longtime Plantsville resident and served in the Southington FD since 1977.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Local firefighters are mourning the recent loss of one of their own.
The Southington Police Department said its longtime member and chaplain, the Rev. Joseph R. Krusienski, died late last month after a battle with cancer.
Called "Rev. Joe," Krusienski, a longtime Plantsville resident, was a member of Co. 2 for decades, also serving as department chaplain.

A native of Pennsylvania, Krusienski was 75.
According to his obituary, he joined Co. 2 out of Plantsville in 1977, becoming a second lieutenant in 1984, first lieutenant in 1986, and captain from 1988-90.

He was made a lifetime member in 2009.
In addition to serving as a chaplain in Southington, he was also chaplain for the Naugatuck Volunteer Fire Department.
