Help Southington Fill Up A Truck Full Of Food

Southington Community Services is hosting a two-day food drive Saturday and Sunday, May 17-18, at a local church.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — The local community is being asked to stop by a local church and help the town fill a truck full of food to benefit those in need.

Southington Community Services is hosting a "fill-the-truck" event at the Plantsville Congregational Church, 109 Church St., Plantsville, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, and Sunday, May 18.

Food donated will then be distributed by the town's social ervice agency.

Items especially in need include: baking items (flour, sugar, etc.); canned fruit; shelf milk; children's snacks; canned soup; dinner side (rice, mashed potatoes, etc.); canned food (spaghetti sauce, pasta, ravioli, vegetables); canned juice; and cereal.
