Major Water Main Project To Impact Traffic For Weeks In Southington

The work is scheduled to begin next week and it is expected to continue through late November.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A much-needed water main project starts Monday, Sept. 15, in Southington, with motorists warned about traffic disruptions for several weeks.

Ludlow Construction Co. will be working on Berlin Street, Lacey Road, and Celella Drive as part of a water main replacement project.

The project starts Monday, Sept. 15, and it will include water main and service replacements on Berlin Street between Berlin Avenue and Briar Lane.

Construction will require a road closure to through traffic on Berlin Street from Berlin Avenue to Pleasant Street with a detour.

Eastbound traffic on Oakland Road will be detoured north on Berlin Avenue, east on Woodruff Street, and south on Pleasant Street.

Westbound traffic on Berlin Street will be detoured north on Pleasant Street, west on Woodruff Street, and south on Berlin Avenue.

Police will be present, and traffic management signs will be in place directing traffic during construction hours.

Normal construction hours and detours for this project will be 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Monday through Friday.

The anticipated timeframe for detours will be between Sept. 15 and Nov. 24.

"We appreciate your understanding and patience during these construction activities. All measures will be taken to expedite this work to minimize the disturbance and inconvenience," wrote the Southington Water Department.
