In Memoriam: John D. Zavisza

A memorial Mass is planned for the former Southington resident who passed away at the age of 48.

John D. Zavisza, 48, of Brunswick, Ohio, formerly of Southington, CT, passed away on Friday, Nov. 6, 2015 as a result of an auto-bicycle accident.

He was born on July 3, 1967 in Stamford, CT.

John graduated in 1985 from Southington High School and received a BA degree in political science from Lynchburg College in VA. He worked for Olympus in CA and then moved to Brunswick, OH where he was a customer service rep and trouble shooter with electronics computer technology and medical research.

John was an avid sports fan; he played soccer while in high school and taught his beloved son Ethan the intricacies of baseball. A little known fact is that John was an excellent saxophone player and a math whiz.

Always loved, never forgotten, John leaves behind his wife Theresa Zavisza; his son Ethan; his father Dr. Daniel Zavisza and wife Jean of Salem, NH; his mother Patricia (Herron) Coffey and husband Alan of Plantsville; step-son Kyle Caruth, and step-daughter Krista Caruth of Brunswick, OH; his sisters, Jean Campochiaro and husband Jim of Southington, Mary Zavisza of CA and his step-sisters Debbie Coffey of Watertown and Diane Corona and husband Mark of Oakville. He also leaves behind his nieces and a nephew; Amy Dee, Alyssa and Christopher Campochiaro and Cadence Hollis as well as numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Mary Our Queen Church, 248 Savage St. Plantsville. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.

DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. is assisting with local arrangements.
