Southington PD Urges Hiking/Biking Trail Safety
The Southington Police Department recently issued a short video on the topic of safety on the Southington Linear Trail.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — With the weather now conducive to nice, long walks/bike rides on a popular hiking trail in town, Southington police say they'll be out in full force urging safety.
The Southington Linear Trail is 4.6 miles in length and runs from the Cheshire/Southington town line north to Lazy Lane (Southington).
It is a popular attraction for families and individuals of all ages, with bike rides, hikes, gentle strolls, and jogging excursions all happening at all hours of the day.

The Southington Police Department is urging folks to play it safe on the trail, recently posting a video about it.
"As warmer weather approaches, our officers will be conducting directed patrols on the Linear Trail and Downtown area to maintain safety," wrote the SPD.

"Through education, community engagement, and officer interactions, our agency would like to uphold a safe and responsible environment for all."
Among the key safety guidelines being urged by the SPD are:
• Wearing a helmet if biking.
• Being courteous to others.
• Come to a complete stop at all roadway intersections if biking or walking
• Look for approaching vehicle traffic prior to crossing on bike or foot.
