South Windsor Academic Calendar Changes Up For Debate

South Windsor schools could see a shortened February break, a rescheduled April vacation and additional emergency closing days.

That's the academic outline detailed in a May 8 memorandum from Daniel S. Hansen, assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction to Dr. Kate Carter, superintendent of schools.

The proposed 2014-15 school calendar could be implemented if approved by the school board Tuesday night.

The rationale of the calendar is to mirror school vacation days in surrounding towns, according to the memo.

Adding two emergency closing days to the end of the school year would allow for a total of seven emergency school day closings before eliminating days from April vacation, the memo states.
