Police: South Windsor Man Tried to Stop Police From Helping Neighbor
Man threatened to have ambulance towed, prevented ambulance from leaving, police said.

A 67-year-old South Windsor man was arrested Monday after the man reportedly took issue with police checking on a neighbor.
According to police, officers were asked to check on the welfare of a resident on Foster Road. Police cruisers and an ambulance arrived at the home and parked in a driveway shared with that of Richard Cote, of 77 Foster Road.
Cote became angry, threatened to have the vehicles towed, hollered at the officers to move the cruisers and ambulance, and swore at officers, police said.

He then parked his car behind the ambulance that needed to back out to transport a patient, and refused to move, police said. Officers reportedly repeatedly requested the man move his car and arrested him for his failure to comply.
Cote was charged with interfering with an officer and disobeying the signal of an officer. He was later released on a $5,000 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear at Manchester Superior Court on January 9, 2014.
