South Windsor Police: Man Broke Into Cars, Used Stolen Credit Cards

A South Windsor man is facing numerous charges for his alleged role in a string of recent car burglaries, according to police.

Travis Carlson, 18, of 75 Chase Farm Road, was charged with two counts of burglary in the first degree, four counts of burglary in the third degree, larceny in the fifth degree, two counts of larceny in the sixth degree and credit card theft.

Carlson, according to police, stole a wallet with credit cards in it from a motor vehicle on Sunday. Carlson used the credit cards at a Walgreen’s in Vernon, police spokesperson Sgt. Scott Custer said.

Once the victim realized that the credit cards had been used, she contacted police, Custer said.

After reviewing the surveillance footage at Walgreen’s, police recognized Carlson and arrested him. After being interviewed by police, Carlson admitted to several other break-ins in the northeast corner of town, Custer said.

Carlson was held on $100,000 bond and will be presented at Manchester Superior Court later today.


Custer reminded residents not to leave valuables, such as wallets, purses and iPods, in their cars.


“At the very least, lock your cars,” he said.
