South Windsor Week Ahead: Council Meeting to Address Tax Abatement, Referendum Rules, STEAP Grant

Council meets Monday, PZC on Tuesday, elementary schools' organizational meeting Wednesday.

The South Windsor Town Council will hold a special meeting Monday night at 7 p.m. to address the majority of items on the Dec. 2 meeting agenda.

An in-depth presentation on the proposed elementary school facilities plan prevented the Town Council from getting through the agenda, leaving important business unaddressed. The council is scheduled to take up those items Monday.

- Resolution Approving Offer of a Tax Assessment Agreement with Johnson Development Associates, Inc.

- Resolution Setting a Time and Place for a Public Hearing to Receive Citizen Input on a Proposed Ordinance Concerning Referenda for Leases or Other Expenditures having a Cost Equal to or Exceeding One Million Dollars ($1,000,000.00)

- Resolution Instituting a Hiring/Spending Freeze

- Resolution Authorizing the Town Manager to Apply for a STEAP Grant with the State of Connecticut for Improvements to the EOC/Business Center in the Town Hall Annex

Also this week the Planning and Zoning Commission meets Tuesday.  The commission may decide on the application for the Free Spirit Farm LLC to get a special exception for horses.

The Board of Education is scheduled to meet Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Timothy Edwards Middle School. The agenda is here.

Park and Recreation Commission meets Wednesday at 7 p.m.
