South Winsdor's Ryan Jordan Achieves Rank of Eagle Scout

South Windsor resident also graduated from high school earlier in the week.

It’s been a big week for South Windsor resident Ryan Jordan.

Indeed, Jordan, 18, graduated from South Windsor High School on Monday and on Thursday he was awarded the rank of Eagle from the Boy Scouts of America at a ceremony at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.

Fewer than 5 percent of all boys who enter scouting earn the Eagle rank; Jordan did so as a member of Troop 62.

For his Eagle project, Jordan led a team of volunteers who constructed 50 feet of boardwalk over wetlands at the Major Michael Donnelly Land Preserve.

Mayor Tom Delnicki applauded Jordan’s efforts.

“It’s something we’re all happy and pleased that you brought to the community through your commitment, leadership and teamwork,” Delnicki said.

State Rep. Bill Aman (R-14th District) noted the importance of achieving the rank of Eagle, stating that the first sentence of an obituary of a man he knew who achieved a great many things in his life led off with the sentence that “he was an Eagle Scout.”

“He believed it laid the groundwork that led him to be successful,” Aman said. “You’ve accomplished something that is amazing.”

Jordan, for his part, thanked his parents and the volunteers who helped him along the way in his 12 years in scouting.

Jordan, who made the honor roll in 14 of his 16 quarters at South Windsor High, will attend Florida Atlantic University in the fall.
