Driver Crashes Car in Haddam; Firefighters Go Above and Beyond Call of Duty
When the driver was transported to the hospital, Haddam firefighters conducted an act of kindness for the woman.

"Going above and beyond the call of duty" — We hear that phrase tossed around a lot and on March 13, Haddam firefighters did just that.
A woman was driving northbound on Saybrook Road in Haddam and lost control of her car, the Haddam Volunteer Fire Company said via Facebook. Her car struck a tree near Camp Bethel Road. Firefighters closed one lane of traffic for about 30 minutes.
The woman was evaluated at the scene by firefighters and EMTs and transported to Middlesex Hospital via Haddam Volunteer Ambulance for additional evaluation.
"The driver of the vehicle was returning from grocery shopping," firefighters said. "A member of HVFCo. volunteered to bring the driver's refrigerated food items to her house so they wouldn't spoil."
The community expressed its gratitude for the act of kindness.
"I love that the FF brought the food to her house so they wouldn't spoil! Nice work in taking care of the patient, not just on the scene, but also by going above & beyond." — Sarah Dahlstrom
"Great job, the grocery delivery was above and beyond your services. Thank you!" — Robin Munster
