Here are the top four stories in The Haddams-Killingworth today:
- Earlier this week the Killingworth Historical Society broke ground on the new barn build, which will be behind its headquarters at the Parmelee Farm Homestead. The new building will be used to better host events and to house and display the collection of historic Killingworth artifacts. In addition, other KHS projects going on at Parmalee Farm include moving the garage to its new location on the property. The KHS put out a post on Facebook that said, "We want to thank everyone who has supported all of our fundraising efforts, the Lions Club for their help with the concert, Jim Lally and the Schumack crew for moving the garage and doing the site work, and everyone who came to help us celebrate!" (Killingworth Historical Society, Killingworth CT via Facebook)
- According to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, there are now 15 cases of monkeypox in Connecticut. According to NBC News, "Health officials in New Haven said the incubation period is typically three to 21 days following exposure. They are asking anyone who is diagnosed with monkeypox to isolate. They are also asking them to avoid close contact with people within the household and to maintain a safe distance from people and animals. They urge people in homes where there is a monkeypox case to make sure to clean and disinfect if they are using the same bathroom." (NBC Connecticut)
- The list is out! Twenty Nutmeg State individuals will be honored at one of Connecticut's most prestigious sports awards dinners in October. The Connecticut Sports Media Alliance (CSMA) has announced the full slate of award recipients, which will be honored at the 80th Gold Key Dinner. Check out the list to see if anyone you know is on it! (Patch)
