  1. Beach, vacation, back to school, stocking up for the cold winter months? Whatever your plans, you're sure to find something in the Killingworth Library's selection of fiction and nonfiction hardcovers and paperbacks, children's and YA titles, DVDs and CDs and jigsaw puzzles that will be available at the upcoming Summer Book and Bake Sale, which will take place on August 19. Hope to see you there! (Press Release Desk)
  2. According to WWLP.com, "Lyme disease cases have jumped across the United States over the past 15 years, but especially in rural areas, a new study found. The top states in 2021, from highest to lowest, were New Jersey, Vermont, Maine, Rhode Island and Connecticut,” the study’s authors wrote. Humans can get Lyme disease from the bite of an infected tick, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Milder symptoms include fever headache, fever, fatigue and skin rash. Left untreated, however, Lyme disease can spread to joints, the heart and the nervous system." Be careful out there and check yourself, pets and loved ones often for ticks. (WWLP.com)
  3. It was a beautiful summer day on Saturday in Connecticut and residents were out in droves enjoying the summer season. So much so, that according to the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and the Middletown Press, "Millers Pond State Park in Haddam was closed for the day on Saturday after reaching capacity." (Middletown Press)
