Patch and T-Mobile are spotlighting local EMTs, firefighters and police officers who are making a difference in their communities.

EAST LYME, CT — Every community has first responders who are leaving a local legacy in the areas they serve.

In light of this, Patch and T-Mobile are spotlighting local EMTs, firefighters and police officers who are making a difference in their communities.

An East Lyme police officer was recently promoted to the rank of sergeant after more than 15 years with department.

In a recent Facebook post, the department said Lindsay Cutillo was promoted during a police commission meeting held May 12, a celebration for which was held May 22 with friends and families, as well as several commission and Board of Selectman members.

During the event, Cutillo was sworn in by Acting Chief of Police Michael Macek and received a pin from her father, who served as an East Lyme police officer for 36 years, according to the department.

Police also noted Cutillo has worked for the department for 17 years.

"Congratulations on your new role within the department," police wrote on Facebook.
