Niantic Man Killed In 2-Vehicle Crash On I-95 In Madison: State PD

The accident occurred near where a multi-fatal crash had occurred hours before on Sunday.

MADISON, CT — A Niantic resident was killed in a crash on Interstate 95 Sunday morning, state police said.

At 7:33 a.m. on Interstate 95 southbound, prior to exit 60 in Madison, a tractor-trailer was traveling in the right lane.

A 2003 Subaru Forester driven by Aymeric Duprelatour, 49, of Giants Neck Road in Niantic, was traveling in the left lane, state police said.

Due to a road closure ahead, the tractor-trailer driver slowed down with traffic and came to a stop in the right lane, with traffic ahead, state police said.

"For an unknown reason, Operator #2 swerved from the left lane, into the right lane; ultimately, colliding with the rear trailer attached to Vehicle #1," state police said in an accident summary. "Upon impact with the rear trailer attached to Vehicle #1, Vehicle #2 continued into the right shoulder and collided with the metal beam guardrail. Operator #1 did not report any injuries. Operator #2 ( Aymeric Duprelatour) was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital for treatment and was later pronounced deceased."

The Connecticut State Police Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Squad (CARS) arrived at the scene to assist with this investigation. This accident is currently under investigation.
