Vandals Damage Light Display At Henry Park In Vernon
Police are on the lookout for those who damaged the free annual drive-through holiday light display in Vernon.

VERNON, CT — Vandals damaged portions of the holiday light display at Henry Park in Vernon, this week, town officials said Thursday. It has since been fixed.
There is no admission charge for the drive-through display, which traverses the park from South Street to the Fox Hill tower and it has become a traditional holiday treat in town.
"The holiday light display at Henry Park has proved to be popular with residents and visitors to Vernon. While most people traveling through the park are enjoying the lights, a small number have damaged some of the displays," town officials said.

Town staff members had to be taken off other projects for repairs, officials said.
Police will be out looking for the vandals are asking that anyone who sees anyone causing damage to the displays to immediately call them at 860-872-9126.

"If you see something, please say something," town officials said.
The news already led to outcry on social media.
"We were excited to drive through the other night and were sad when half of the lights weren’t working. So sad people have to ruin it for others," one resident said.
Said another, "Thank you for all the work you do to create these displays ... I for one, am quite tired of those who do not take the hard work and needs of others into consideration."
Said another, "Lack of respect ... If caught, they should do community service to pay off bills."
