Dog Licenses Due In June: West Hartford Town Clerk
June is 'Dog License Month,' with all dog owners of pooches 6 months old or greater required to have their dogs licensed.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — West Hartford Town Clerk Leon S. Davidoff recently outlined the town's policies and procedures regarding June's "Dog License Month" operations.
He said the West Hartford Town Clerk’s Office has mailed reminders to more than 3,000 residents, urging owners to make their dogs “legal.”

According to state law, all dogs over 6 months old must be licensed yearly and a numbered tag will accompany the paper license and serve as identification for any pet wandering away from home.
The annual fee for dog licenses is $19 for unaltered dogs and $8 for neutered or spayed dogs.

All dogs must be vaccinated against rabies.
If the rabies certificate has expired before renewal, include an updated certificate from a veterinarian.
Meanwhile, a regional rabies vaccination clinic will be held on June 8,10 a.m. to Noon, at Windsor Firehouse, 50 Pine Lane, Windsor, with West Hartford residents able to attend.
If a dog is being licensed for the first time and has been neutered/spayed, a certificate from the vet must be presented.
Once processed, all documentation will be returned.
Applications for dog licenses can be mailed to: the Office of the Town Clerk, Town of West Hartford, 50 S. Main St., Room 313, West Hartford CT, 06107.
Participants should enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope to receive a license, tag, and the return of supporting documentation. Also, dog licenses can be obtained in person by visiting the West Hartford Town Clerk’s Office. Incomplete applications will be returned.
