WEST HARTFORD, CT — With snow and ice season now fully underway, West Hartford officials said Wednesday the time is now to take down those portable basketball hoops over the roadway.

Following snow plowing operations conducted on Dec. 13, the West Hartford Department of Public Works issued a formal reminder that portable basketball hoops are not permitted within the public right-of-way in accordance with local laws.

Failure to comply may result in enforcement action, including removal of the obstruction by the Town and/or the issuance of fines, as permitted.

"Your prompt cooperation is required to ensure public safety and allow DPW crews to perform winter maintenance operations effectively," wrote the town.
