WEST HARTFORD, CT — It appears somebody's wayward exotic pet bird decided to pay an uninvited visit to a local school's playground.
Sadly for the bird, however, it merely ended up in West Hartford Animal Control custody, and the department is trying to find its home.
And, now, this bird is the word at the Town of West Hartford's animal control headquarters.

In a humorous post Wednesday night, WHAC documented the story of the parakeet-looking feathered friend found on the basketball court earlier in the day behind Morley Elementary School, 77 Bretton Road.
"Guys, I need help. I thought taking an outdoor flight during today's beautiful weather would be a breeze, but I got totally turned around," wrote WHAC, humorously "quoting" the bird. "Next thing I knew, I was landing on the basketball court behind Morley school like a total rookie."

West Hartford Animal Control said some bystanders noticed the unusual-looking bird and called the "animal police."
"I mean, who does that?" wrote WHAC, "quoting" the bird.
Staff were able to take the bird in and bring it to the animal control headquarters at 36 Brixton St.
"Now I'm locked down at animal control and, let me tell you, it's not exactly for the birds," the bird "said."
For now, the bird is not up for adoption, but those claiming the bird must show proof of ownership.
Anyone who knows the identity of the bird's owner is asked to call West Hartford Animal Control at 860-570-8818.
