Last Call for Tickets to Aurora’s Luminary Celebration

Program at Bushnell to Feature Wesleyan's Dr. Khalilah Brown-Dean

The countdown is on for the 2024 Luminary Celebration, the joyful annual fundraiser hosted by the Aurora Women and Girls Foundation, which will be held next Wednesday, October 23, 2024, 5:30-7:30pm at the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts.

Tickets are $150 per person, which includes happy-hour appetizers by Max’s Catering as well as wine, beer, and soft drinks. Half of each ticket price is a tax-deductible donation, with proceeds supporting Aurora’s community investments, especially in local College Success programs and groundbreaking research about women and girls in CT.

The evening will feature testimonials from College Success program students, as well as a keynote address by Wesleyan University professor Dr. Khalilah Brown-Dean, host of the CT Public radio show and podcast “Disrupted.” She is the Rob Rosenthal Distinguished Professor of Civic Engagement and the Executive Director of the school’s Allbritton Center for the Study of Public Life.

“We’re looking forward to a sparkling evening that celebrates the power of our community coming together for women and girls,” said Aurora Executive Director Jennifer Steadman, PhD. “I am such a fan of Dr. Khalilah Brown-Dean -- and I can’t wait to hear her message about women’s leadership. I can guarantee that you’ll feel inspired!”

Dr. Brown-Dean's appearance at the Luminary Celebration is generously supported by Aurora’s partner Liberty Bank. “We are thankful for their meaningful investment,” said Steadman.
