Man Charged In February Shooting Incident In West Hartford: Police

The 27-year-old suspect is accused of firing into a vehicle parked on a local roadway.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — West Hartford police have accused a 27-year-old New Britain man of firing gunshots into an unoccupied vehicle on Park Road earlier this year.

According to the West Hartford Police Department, which announced an arrest in the Feb. 17 incident on Friday, Dec. 5, the suspect has been identified as Jaecob Gonzalez, 27, of New Britain.

Police said Gonzalez was charged Dec. 2 with unlawful discharge of a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm, criminal use of a weapon, weapons in a motor vehicle, first-degree reckless endangerment, first-degree criminal mischief, and second-degree breach of peace.

Gonzalez is currently incarcerated on unrelated charges for a separate crime, police said.

The new charges stem from an incident at 134 Park Road, West Hartford, on Feb. 17, when
at approximately 12:41 a.m., the West Hartford Police Department was dispatched for reports of gunshots.

Police said officers arrived on the scene to find evidence of gunfire with damage to an unoccupied vehicle.

There were no victims reported at the time the incident was reported.

West Hartford Police Department detectives began an investigation, leading to last week's charges.

An arrest warrant was subsequently sought, charging the suspect with multiple criminal offenses.
