Police ID Trucker Killed In West Hartford Road Rage Incident

The death happened during an altercation on Interstate 84 between two truck drivers on Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 9.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — A trucker from Philadelphia, Pa., has been identified as the man killed in Tuesday's road rage incident that halted traffic on Interstate 84 in West Hartford for hours.

Connecticut State Police said Friday morning the man killed was identified as Haneef McKnight, 28, of Philadelphia, Pa.

According to the Connecticut State Police, McKnight was run over by one of the trucks and killed during an apparent road rage altercation.

In a release issued Wednesday morning, police said at about 3:16 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, troopers were called to I-84 East before Exit 44 in West Hartford for a reported road rage incident.

According to police, a tractor-trailer was traveling in the right lane while a box truck was traveling in the center lane.

Police said that, while in congested traffic, one of the operators exited their vehicle, ran across the highway, and climbed into the box truck.

This caused a disturbance inside the vehicle.

"In the midst of the disturbance, one of the involved individuals was run over by one of the involved vehicles," state police said in the release.

Police on Friday released no other details about Tuesday's incident, and the case "remains an active and ongoing investigation."
