Serious Crash Closes I-84 In West Hartford, Injuries Reported, Road Now Open: UPDATE

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Interstate 84 was closed Tuesday night in West Hartford following a serious accident Tuesday afternoon, according to the state Department of Transportation.

The DOT reports the crash happened on I-84 East between exits 44 and 46, resulting in that side of the roadway being closed.

The accident was first reported at 3:17 p.m., and the section of highway reopened later into the night.

Due to the crash, Exit 43's on-ramp on I-84 East was closed just before 4 p.m. because of a crash, as was the Exit 42 on-ramp on I-84 East.

"Preliminary information shows that Troop H personnel responded to I-84 east in the area of exit 46 in Hartford for a motor vehicle collision," said a Connecticut State Police spokesperson in a statement shortly after the accident. "Injuries have been reported, extent unknown at this time."

Police said traffic was being diverted off Exit 43, and the scene is active.
