Summer In Blue Back Square: Event Lineup Announced

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Summer is here, and Blue Back Square will celebrate the season with a lineup of free events called "Summer in the Square."

Among the events offered include live music, kids events, comedy shows, fitness classes and special happy hours.

Read on for information about some of the shopping center's offerings:

Outdoor Pure Barre Classes

Pure Barre West Hartford will teach free fitness classes on select Wednesday nights: June 8, June 15, July 6, July 16, Aug. 3, and Aug. 10. Classes will run from 6-7 p.m. each day.

Sounds of Summer Concert Series

Three performances will take place on Wednesdays this summer, with rain dates scheduled for the following day:

• Jukebox 45: June 22 from 6-8 p.m. (the kick-off concert)
• The Zoo: July 13 from 6-8 p.m.
• Locomotion: Aug. 24 from 6- p.m.

Additionally, Hot Cat Jazz Band will perform on Thursday, July 28 from 6-8 p.m.

Camp Blue Back

Every Tuesday from 10 a.m.-noon beginning June 28, parents can bring their kids to Blue Back Square for arts and crafts, story time, sing-a-longs, character visits, face painting, balloon animals and more. The program will run through Aug. 9.

Comedy Night Events

From 8-9 p.m. on two Thursday nights (June 30 and July 14), Blue Back Square has partnered with 20/20 Media to bring a "comedy showcase" of five comedians live on stage each night. (Officials didn't specify who will be performing.)
