How do you know the teacher?
She’s my daughter

What does this person teach?
Sixth-grade science

Why do you believe the teacher should be recognized or honored?

It’s not because she’s my daughter, but because she is an exemplary teacher. Parents request her when their children are as young as in the third grade. Her reputation precedes her. She cries at the end of the school year because she’s going to miss her students. They cry together. She becomes very involved with each student.

She graduated with a degree in psychology from St. Anselm College in New Hampshire and then got her master's in education from Saint Joseph’s in West Hartford. This is the combination that makes her an outstanding teacher. She goes above and beyond a normal teacher’s day.

She and her husband Dan, raised three boys and they have grown to be productive young men.

The secret to her success is gaining the respect of her students. To Marnie, there are no bad kids just students who are struggling with knowing the meaning of respect and learning how to gain it and give it.

Parents, teachers, principals, and students are so grateful their children have had the opportunity to have Marnie, for a short time, form the learning of students during their formative years.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the teacher?

She makes herself approachable to students, parents, and faculty. Always willing to help when asked.
