WEST HARTFORD, CT — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented times. Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these everyday heroes.
This submission comes from Karen Clarke, who nominated her son, Brian Clarke Jr. of West Hartford.

What does the nominee do for work?
Physician assistant in cardiac surgery
Why do you believe the nominee should be recognized or honored?
I feel my son should be honored for his caring, determination and tireless hours he dedicates to assisting in surgeries to save people's lives. Most recently, many of his patients are COVID-19 positive. He recently was working in the COVID-19 ICU.

What’s one thing you want everyone to know about your hero?
I would like people to know how selfless, dedicated and compassionate my son is about his career and his patients. When he's in the OR, he treats his patients as if they are family.
