West Hartford: Dog License Deadline Fast Approaching

Dog owners have until this week to get dog licenses renewed or face late fines.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Local officials are reminding folks that this is the last business week to get their dog licenses renewed.

According to state law, all dogs over 6 months of age must be licensed each year.

A numbered tag will accompany the paper license and serves as identification for any pet that may wander away from home.

The annual fee for dog licenses is $19 for unaltered dogs and $8 for neutered or spayed dogs.

All dogs must be vaccinated against rabies. If the rabies certificate has expired prior to renewal, include an updated certificate from the veterinarian in order to license a dog.

If a dog is being licensed for the first time and has been neutered/spayed, a certificate from the vet must be presented. All documentation will be returned once processed.

Applications for dog licenses can be mailed to: the Office of the Town Clerk, Town of West Hartford, 50 South Main Street, Room 313, West Hartford CT 06107. Enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope to receive your license, tag and the return of your supporting documentation. Also, dog licenses can be obtained in person by visiting the West Hartford Town Clerk’s Office. Incomplete applications will be returned. For additional questions, call 860-561-7430.
