The annual fee for dog licenses is $19 for unaltered dogs and $8 for neutered or spayed dogs.

All dogs must be vaccinated against rabies. If the rabies certificate has expired prior to renewal, dog owners should include an updated certificate from the veterinarian in order to license a dog.

If a dog is being licensed for the first time and has been neutered/spayed, a certificate from the vet must be presented. All documentation will be returned once processed.

Applications for dog licenses can be mailed to: the Office of the West Hartford Town Clerk, 50 S. Main St., Room 313, West Hartford CT 06107. Enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope to receive your license, tag and the return of your supporting documentation. Also, dog licenses can be obtained in person by visiting the town clerk’s office. Incomplete applications will be returned.
