Weather Postpones Fireworks Show In Wethersfield: UPDATE

The annual Wethersfield Fireworks at Cove Park event has been pushed back a week due to weather concerns.

WETHERSFIELD, CT β€” The area's first major fireworks show of the 2025 summer season was supposed to be this Saturday in Wethersfield on the last day of May.

But a less-than-optimistic weather forecast calling for rain and storms has pushed it back a week, to Saturday, June 7, with festivities starting at 5 p.m. for the 9 p.m. show.

The annual Wethersfield Fireworks at Cove Park (at the Connecticut River) will take place with folks invited to gather at the 533 Main St. park.

According to the Wethersfield Police Department, the fireworks will last about 30 minutes.

Police said they will be out conducting traffic operations starting at 4:30 p.m. in that area.

As a result, police said motorists can expect heavy traffic on Hartford Avenue, Nott Street, Garden Street, and Main Street.

In addition, access to State Street will be limited in both directions during the event, according to the WPD.

"The Wethersfield Police Department is asking that those attending the event be patient and plan ahead for traffic delays," wrote the WPD.

Police said there is free shuttle bus service to the park from the Pitkin Community Center (30 Greenfield St.) to the Solomon Welles House (220 Hartford Ave.).

That service will be available from 5 to 10:30 p.m.
