Police said Demudd turned herself into the WPD Wednesday morning following an investigation stemming from a reported assault last month at the group home.

According to the WPD, at about 1:30 p.m., the department was notified that an assault happened at a HARC Inc.-administered group home on 50 Eastern Drive, Wethersfield.

Police said the home provides 24/7 care for intellectually and physically disabled persons.

A police probe determined a 28-year-old, non-verbal, autistic woman was assaulted multiple times by a staff member early in the morning of Oct. 13.

Police said the victim had multiple head/facial lacerations, as well as a "closed fracture of the nasal bones" and she was rushed to the hospital via ambulance for treatment.

Ultimately, police said, two group home employees were fired before the incident was reported to police.

Demudd's charges came after that investigation and the WPD did not indicate whether their investigation was still ongoing.
