Historic Site's Torched Toilet Probed By Wethersfield Police: PD

Wethersfield police are investigating the arson fire of a portable toilet at a town-owned historic site over the weekend.

WETHERSFIELD, CT — Wethersfield police said Tuesday they're looking for the suspects believed responsible for a portable toilet fire at a local historical site over the weekend.

The Wethersfield Police Department said at about 11:58 p.m. Sunday, the WPD and Wethersfield Volunteer Fire Department were called to the Solomon Wells House at 220 Hartford Ave. for a reported "portable toilet" fire.

The Town of Wethersfield owns the Solomon Wells House, a historic farm site dating back to 1774 and it is used by "Wethersfield residents whose aims are educational, cultural, and civic betterment."

Wethersfield police said detectives learned a group of individuals was last seen on e-bikes leaving nearby Cove Park at the time of the fire, last seen traveling east on State Street.

"Detectives are seeking to identify and speak with individuals who may be possible witnesses and are asking for the public's help," the WPD wrote Tuesday.
