Kidnapping Suspect Arrested At Wethersfield Hotel: Police
A man who has been wanted for charges including kidnapping and assault was arrested Tuesday after a woman alerted police to his location.

WETHERSFIELD, CT — A man who has been wanted for a slew of charges — among them kidnapping and risk of injury to a minor — was arrested at a Wethersfield hotel today, Wethersfield police said.
Police said a woman called the town's dispatch at around 10:19 a.m. and said the man, Edward Casares, 42, was in Room 131 at Motel 6 (1341 Silas Deane Hwy., Wethersfield).
Casares had an active arrest warrant from the West Hartford Police Department, and is accused of risk of injury to a minor, two counts of second-degree kidnapping, third-degree assault, and second-degree breach of peace.

His warrant stemmed from an incident last December during which he was accused of assaulting someone, then driving away with that person and a child, who he refused to let out of the vehicle, police said.
Police said he knew both people, and said they won't release any further details given the nature of the case and the victim's age.

Because of Casares' criminal history and the severity of the charges against him, police said, the Capitol Region Emergency Services Team (CREST) was activated to contact him and encourage him to surrender.
He surrendered to CREST without incident at around 12:52 p.m., at which point he was turned over to the West Hartford Police Department, Wethersfield police said.
