Massive Wethersfield Car Show To Honor Fallen Hartford Police Officer

Saturday's '1718 Cars on Main' event in Wethersfield will cause some traffic tie-ups, local police said.

WETHERSFIELD, CT — A major car show in Wethersfield on Saturday will honor a fallen Hartford police officer killed in the line of duty last year.

The Town of Wethersfield is hosting the "1781 Cars on Main" event in honor of Det. Bobby Garten, the Hartford policeman killed in a vehicle accident while pursuing a suspect in 2023.

The event will start at 11 a.m. and last through about 3 p.m., the Wethersfield Police Department said.

In addition to classic cars, the event will feature food and music, along with raffles and prizes.

As a result, road closures can be expected starting at about 9:15 a.m. Saturday on Main Street, Church Street, and Hartford Avenue.

"The Wethersfield Police Department is encouraging people to remain patient if attending the event as there will be anticipated traffic delays," police said in a statement.
