Procession For Fallen Firefighter To Close Wethersfield Highway: WPD

Traffic will be halted for fallen Wethersfield firefighter Roberty Sharkevich Sr., who was killed Tuesday battling a Berlin brush fire.

WETHERSFIELD, CT β€” Traffic both ways on a major Wethersfield roadway will be closed Wednesday afternoon to make way for a procession honoring a fallen Wethersfield firefighter.

According to the Wethersfield Police Department, at about 1:30 p.m., both the north and southbound sides of the Sileas Deane Highway in Wethersfield will be closed.

The area of closure is from the Hartford city line to Wells Road, the WPD said.

This will allow the procession for Wethersfield Volunteer Fire Department firefighter Robert Sharkevich Sr. to pass by.

Sharkevich was killed Tuesday afternoon in a vehicle accident while he was helping to battle a massive brush fire in Berlin.

"The Wethersfield Police Department is asking the public to avoid the area as there will be significant traffic delays," wrote the WPD.
