Suspect Hits Police Vehicle In Wethersfield: Police
A stolen SUV struck a Wethersfield PD cruiser after it fled a police investigation involving Newington and Hartford police as well.
WETHERSFIELD, CT β A Wethersfield Police Department cruiser was damaged after a suspect plowed into it early Monday morning in a Cumberland Farms parking lot.
According to the WPD, officers were called to 1855 Berlin Turnpike, which is home to a Cumberland Farms gas station/store near the Newington town line, at about 1:31 a.m. Monday to assist in an investigation of a vehicle there.
The Hartford Police Department was looking for the Nissan Kicks SUV after it wasn't returned to its owner, the WPD wrote Monday morning.

Police said the Newington Police Department was observing the vehicle, with calls going in through Wethersfield Police Dispatch.
Wethersfield police said when officers approached the Nissan, the driver placed the vehicle in drive and drove out of the parking lot.

While driving out of the parking space, the Nissan hit the front of a Wetheresfield PD cruiser, causing "minor front-end damage," police said.
Police said the cruiser was unoccupied, and no injuries were sustained.
The motorist sped away, and the incident is still under investigation.
