Violent Armed Robbery Reported At Wethersfield Motel: Police

Wethersfield police said they're looking for two men who brandished a weapon and assaulted a clerk on duty Sunday night.

WETHERSFIELD, CT β€” Local police are looking for two suspects responsible for the armed robbery of a chain motel in town on the Silas Deane Highway.

According to the Wethersfield Police Department, at about 10:`16 p.m. Sunday, the Motel 6 at 1341 Silas Deane Highway was robbed by two Hispanic males.

Police said the two suspects entered the motel lobby, vaulted over the counter, and demanded cash from the clerk.

The suspects then forced the clerk at gunpoint into a rear employee office, where the cler was assaulted, police said.

"During the incident, the suspects stole the clerk's cellular phone, wristwatch, and an undetermined amount of cash," wrote the WPD in a release.

Police said the victim sustained minor injuries.

The two men fled the scene in a 2917 Hyundai Elantra with Connecticut registration plate AZ09385, which was reported stolen out of Hartford.
