Wethersfield PD Saves Crash Victim's Life, Then Cites The Victim
A Wethersfield police officer Saturday pulled a driver trapped in a burning wreck to safety, then ticketed the person for causing the crash.
WETHERSFIELD, CT β A local police officer is being credited with, possibly, saving the life of someone trapped in a burning vehicle early Saturday morning.
But the motorist, police said, wasn't spared an infraction in connection with the crash, even if their life was spared.
According to the Wethersfield Police Department, Monday morning, at about 12:10 a.m., officers were called to the Berlin Turnpike at the intersection of Pawtucket Avenue for a two-car crash.

According to the Wethersfield PD, one officer β identified as WPD officer Derek Farrell β broke the window of the burning Infiniti and pulled the driver to safety.
The WPD Monday afternoon posted the officer's body camera footage showing the dramatic rescue.
In addition to police, Wethersfield fire and emergency medical services units responded to the scene, with both drivers in the collision transported to local hospitals for "non-life-threatening" injuries.
According to police, while the operator of the Infiniti was spared a fiery death, the operator was not spared a ticket in connection with the accident.
That's because police said the Infiniti "disregarded the traffic signal" and collided with the Audi, which was trying to turn east onto Pawtucket Avenue.
Police said the Infiniti driver pulled from the flaming wreckage was cited for traveling unreasonably fast and failure to obey a traffic control signal.
