Woman Pulled From Vehicle In Carjacking At Stop & Shop Parking Lot: Wethersfield Police

The incident happened on Wednesday night in the grocery store's parking lot, with police searching for a male suspect.

WETHERSFIELD, CT — Police are investigating an incident that occurred Wednesday night in which a woman was ripped out of her vehicle in a supermarket parking lot carjacking.

According to the Wethersfield Police Department, the carjacking happened shortly before 10:05 p.m. at the Stop & Shop located at 1380 Berlin Turnpike.

Police said their investigation revealed the suspect is believed to be a Hispanic, adult male about 5-feet-10-inches tall, wearing a beige hooded sweatshirt and camouflaged pants.

The suspect "forcibly removed" the woman from the driver's seat of her gray Buick Lacrosse and then stole the vehicle.

Police said the suspect was last seen traveling east on Jordan Lane, then north toward Maple Avenue in Hartford.

"There were no weapons used or implied during the incident," wrote the WPD Thursday morning. "There were no visible injuries on the victim."

Police did say the woman was evaluated by Aetna ambulance personnel at the scene.

The Buick was subsequently put on the National Crime Information Center as stolen, and incident information was sent out to surrounding agencies.

The license plate number on the Buick is CT # BN00701.
