ACL Injury Ends Athletic Season for Wilton High's Pearsall

Wilton High School girls basketball player Casey Pearsall has been diagnosed with an "ACL injury" to her left knee by her doctors following Monday night's game against Branford that will end her high school athletic career, according to the Hour.

Pearsall, who also plays soccer and lacrosse, faces surgery in the near future, but a date has not yet been set, her father Steve told the Hour. The injury occurred during the last three-and-a-half minutes of the game when she planted her left leg in order to shoot a basket and her knee buckled.

Pearsall, who has been a starter for all of her chosen sports for the last four years, confirmed last spring that she planned to attend the University of Notre Dame to play lacrosse for the Fighting Irish.

Patch interviewed Pearsall two years ago during her sophomore season as a starting point gaurd for Wilton High.

“When we’re playing well, that’s what I pride myself on,” she said. “Everyone playing together is better. It all starts once you get that first shot off.”

Pearsall will next focus on her upcoming appearance at Wilton Education Foundation's "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader" fundraiser where she'll compete against Kevin Meehan, Bryan Ennis, and Kristine Lilly on March 1 at Wilton High.
