Breach Of Peace At High School Tops Last Week's Wilton Police Blotter

WILTON, CT — Wilton police reported several recent enforcement actions involving drug violations, failure to appear in court, and breach of peace.

On May 18, officers stopped a 2004 Honda Accord near Ridgefield Road and Lovers Lane for failing to obey a traffic control signal. During the stop, police determined that the driver, Israel Gutierrez-Franco, 32, of Norwalk, was in possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. He was also found to be operating without the required insurance. Gutierrez-Franco was issued a summons for possession of a controlled substance, use of drug paraphernalia, failure to obey a traffic control signal, and driving without minimum insurance coverage. He posted 7 percent of a $1,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on May 30.

In a separate incident on May 12, Joseph Tortorici, 63, of Norwalk, turned himself in to Wilton police in connection with a breach of peace incident that occurred April 9 at Wilton High School. A warrant had been issued in connection with the case. Tortorici was released after posting a $700 bond and is expected to appear in Stamford Superior Court on May 23.

Also on May 12, police stopped a motorist on New Canaan Road and found that Mohammad Talal Najib, 36, of Norwalk, was the subject of two active warrants related to failure to respond to infractions, one from Wilton and one from Greenwich. The infractions stemmed from incidents involving the provision of tobacco to minors. Najib posted 7 percent of two bonds totaling $5,500 and is due in Stamford Superior Court on May 22.


The Wilton Police Department is attempting to locate the owner of a bicycle found abandoned near local hiking trails.

According to police, a Wilton resident contacted authorities on Apr. 28 to report a bicycle that appeared to have been left for several days near the entrance to the hiking trails at Olmstead Hill Road and West Hemmelskamp Road.

The bicycle was recovered and is currently being held at Wilton Police Headquarters.

Officials are encouraging the owner to claim the property by contacting the department at 203-834-6260.
