Chamber Director Torie Clancy Resigns (Updated)
In an email sent late last night, Torie Clancy, Director of the Wilton Chamber of Commerce, announced her resignation after eight months on the job.

“I was shocked and a little disappointed, because I thought she was so good. She was enthusiastic and very professional, and I thought she was great for the organization, I was just surprised to hear that she was gone,” said owner of Peterson said that Clancy came into her business to chat frequently.
“She was like a breath of fresh air,” said Peterson.

“We’re certainly appreciative of what she accomplished during the short time she was here, and we of course wish her success in her other endeavors,” said Carol Johnson, a member of the chamber’s Board of Directors.
Johnson did wish to elaborate on Clancy’s resignation. Patch had tried to contact other board members, and was told by one of them that Johnson would be fielding questions.

“She was always very responsive and creative and full of energy, and I wish her the best,” said First Selectman William Brennan. “She’s obviously got some creative ideas, and I wish her the best,” he said.

Torie Clancy, the Director of the announced her resignation late last night via email, which appears to have been directed towards chamber members.
"It is with regret that I have decided to move on," Clancy wrote. "I wanted to take this opportunity to personally let you all know what a pleasure it has been meeting you and working with you to promote the Wilton business community."
She said that although , "the chamber's board of directors seem divided on what steps to take next and at what pace. It seems prudent to let them work it out and for me to pursue other opportunities. I'm proud of what we've accomplished, and grateful for the experience. I look forward to staying in touch with all the great business people I've met."
Also included in the statement is a comment by Ralph Slater, the chamber's president:
"I accept Torie's resignation with deep regret. As our executive director, she has revitalized the chamber's web presence and member services, helped to increase membership, and gotten many new members actively involved in the chamber's activities. She has been a tremendously dedicated worker, putting in long hours for the benefit of the members as well as the organization. She will be greatly missed and we wish her nothing but the best."
The resignation comes about eight months after Clancy took over from former director , who stepped down last year.
