Cooked Ham, Pepperoni Recalled In Connecticut Over Listeria Risk

CONNECTICUT — The U.S. Department of Agriculture is recalling more than 2.3 million pounds of cooked ham and pepperoni products sold in Connecticut and other states over possible listeria contamination, the agency announced this week.

The products were produced by Alexander & Hornung, a subsidiary of Perdue Premium Meat Co. based in St. Clair Shores, Michigan. The affected products were also produced on various dates, according to the announcement.

Products subject to the recall bear establishment number “EST. M10125” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

So far, there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact their health care provider.

Consumption of food contaminated with listeria monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, a serious infection that primarily affects older adults, people with weakened immune systems, and pregnant women and their newborns.

Symptoms of listeriosis can include fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance and convulsions.
