DUI And Rollover Crash Top Wilton Police Blotter For May 5 - 12

WILTON, CT — A Danbury woman was found to be under the influence of alcohol after striking a curb and pulling into a Wilton driveway with two flat tires and a damaged rim, police said.
On May 5 at approximately 11:39 p.m., officers observed a white Audi A4 traveling northbound on Danbury Road near Ridgefield Road veer into the curb on the east side of the road. The vehicle sustained damage consistent with striking the curb, including a broken rim and rear door damage. Police identified the driver as Nicole Shivonne Whitaker, 39, who told officers she had been distracted by her phone.
Due to the odor of alcohol in the vehicle, Whitaker was asked to perform field sobriety tests and was found to be impaired. She refused chemical testing. In Connecticut, the legal blood alcohol content limit for driving is 0.08 percent for those 21 and older.

Whitaker was released after posting 7 percent of a $300 bond and is scheduled to appear May 15 at Stamford Superior Court.

A Greenwich man was taken into custody on May 8 shortly after midnight after police found he had an active warrant for failing to appear in court for prior motor vehicle violations.
Klayton Alves Machado, 48, was pulled over on Danbury Road for stopping in a travel lane and obstructing traffic while operating a 2005 Toyota Prius. During the stop, officers determined that Machado had missed a scheduled court appearance in January 2025 related to motor vehicle charges in Greenwich.
He was charged with second-degree failure to appear and released on a $5,000 bond. His court date is set for May 21 at Stamford Superior Court.
Vehicle Rolls Over, Hits Utility Pole on Danbury Road
A Norwalk man escaped injury after his vehicle rolled over and struck a utility pole on Danbury Road on the morning of May 5.
According to police, 23-year-old Pablo Ham Sagastume was driving a 2007 Honda Civic northbound near Seeley Road when he left the roadway and the vehicle rolled onto its side, hitting and damaging an Eversource utility pole.
Eversource responded to assess the damage. Danbury Road was closed for approximately 30 minutes during cleanup. The vehicle was towed from the scene, and no injuries were reported.
Ham Sagastume received infractions for traveling too fast for conditions, operating an unregistered vehicle, and driving without minimum insurance coverage.
