Extreme Heat Protocol: Wilton Opens Cooling Center

Hot and humid conditions are expected during the next four days, with highs in the 90s and the heat index between 95 – 105 degrees.

WILTON, CT — Gov. Ned Lamont has implemented an Extreme Heat Protocol from 8:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 26 through 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 30.

The town will be opening a cooling center at Comstock Community Center (Room 30) on Wednesday, July 26, Thursday, July 27 and Friday, July 28 from 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Hot and humid conditions are expected during the next four days, with highs in the 90s and the heat index ranging between 95 – 105 degrees Fahrenheit, according to the National Weather Service. In addition, overnight temperatures are not expected to fall below the mid 70s. Some haze and smoke from the Canadian wildfires may also cause unhealthy air quality at times. Persons in vulnerable populations such as the elderly or persons with breathing concerns should take extra care.
